♥ Goodbye Otis ♥

Friday was a sad day in my family… out of the three gorgeous boxers and more importantly the three four-legged family members that my parents had, one remained. Unfortunately, they had to put him to sleep on Friday because of a cancer in his stomach (cancer of the rat (?)), just like his mother had.

He was not suffering per say, though he could not eat due to the pressure in his tomy caused by hemorrhages. He could not get up much either… so now, Otis has joined his brother Omaley (who passed away earlier this year) and their mother Mirka (who passed away in 2007 and for whom I had made the slideshow below).

I cannot say I am not sad, but this time I was aware of the situation another way… so I have not shed any tears yet… but trust me they are not very far. It is hard to live so far away in these situations.  I know my parents could have used some comfort from me, and I from them. But we do what we can in these situation, and they know I am there for them even though I am miles away.

Otis - 03 May 2009

I saw this big guy for the first time… well he was a few seconds old ^_^… Otis became a big dog though… and when his mom and brother were still around, well let us say that my parents had their hands full. He gave somewhat a hard time to his brother, but all in all they were inseparable. He was such a sweetie… a gentle “giant” who acted so careful around small children. He had a big head and it always was a pleasure to have him put it on ones lap… and when he closed his eyes with his head there… well, all of you who have those delightful creatures as companion, know what I am talking about.

♥ Goodbye “Bidouille” Otis… I’ll surely miss you even more than I did before… ♥

Dogs: GoodBye Omaley

It is a sad day for my family because another of our beloved companion passed away a few days ago… I cried a lot and now I deal with it by doing this little slideshow for my mom.

He swallowed 40 cm of a towel and after three hours of surgery, woke up groggy but did not pass the night… He is missed every second… GoodBye Omaley!

Wilma, my dear K-9 friend

Wilma, my dear K-9 friend

Although I wish to use my blog to promote my writing, I will sometimes post some very short thoughts that somehow strike me as the days go by.

As I started blogging more seriously thanks to the Genius WordPress Community (some flowers need to be sent), I crossed the path of an amazing K-9 called Maggie Mae, “crum snatcher”. Her owner is taking beautiful pictures of her and transcribes her words to perfection. I like to stop by and leave a comment whenever she makes me laugh (so it is quite often). Today was no exception, I might even  have taught her a new word (that I learnt myself from Miss Mary Poppins)…

Do you know… I was never called “talented artist” before… good/talent writer/poet, I was… but not artist. This means a lot to me, just thought you might want to know Maggie Mae…

Thank you Maggie Mae

picture-008By the way, did I ever show you the picture of my friend’s K-9? Her name is Wilma and she sometimes visit me when she is a little bored ^_^

A few years ago, I discovered an amazing guy with an amazing show… his name Cesar Millan! Well-known as the dog whisperer, his show is a worldwide hit ^_^ Very inspirationnal, he inspired me many times to make my life better. I read just now a very distasteful article against Cesar and his methods… I do not own a dog anymore though… not yet at least.

Ballerine

However I grew up with dogs. My first dog was a mix labrador – boxer. Her name was Ballerine and for a very little while I was bigger than her and walking on all fours too :D She taught me how to play on my own as well as patience. She was a wonderful friend.

She later had a boxer friend whose name was Pirate. He was a champion for misbehaviour… Living in an appartment, he was just bored out of his skin. My parents gave him away to a family with more time in their hands to fullfil his needs. That was a good thing to do I think.

Balloo

When Ballerine passed, we welcomed Balloo in our home… Such a great boxer… He had a tendency to talk a lot to us and of course his worse habit would be to steal our chair (even when we sat on it, he would just manage to kick us off of it).

Luna followed Balloo but she disappeared as fast as we got her :(

Then came the Duchess, Mirka… the French nickname I gave her “Poupouillette”. I absolutely adored that chick! I had a very special connection to her…

Finally, Mirka gave us the joy of Otis and Omaley :D who are beyond brothers… they are best friends for life!

Today, only Otis and Omaley remain but all these dogs/friends will live on forever in my heart and thoughts.
They made and make perfect companions and life is just complete with them.
